I guess the good thing about a trendy, million-dollar “eco shack” is that it can look like a shabby, should-be-condemned building from the outside…but it can have a gourmet chef’s kitchen and an exercise room on the inside. Do those eco-conscious, reclaimed wooden boards on the exterior really have termites crawling all over them…or is that just the architect’s idea of “trompe l’oeil”? And for that exposed concrete, I have 2 words for them:”power wash”. Or maybe the architect was just trying to fit in with all the other homes in the neighborhood, which I presume would be faded, crumbling, out-of-fashion, not-so-upscale-any-more, modern homes built in the 1970s? Or maybe, as part of a nearsighted sustainability effort, they gutted the interior of the old home on the site but left the crumbling exterior? Maybe the Witness Protection Program had something to do with this?
