Lifeguard Shack is a gorgeous rustic wooded retreat designed by Walton Architecture, located in Martis Camp, a private community in Lake Tahoe, California. The design team also worked with Gallagher Construction, building this home to meticulous perfection. The mountain home is wrapped in a coniferous forest in the high Sierra, offering the outmost privacy, perfect for a family retreat escaping big city life. Comprised of 3,249 square feet of living space, this spacious home offers sumptous indoor and outdoor living spaces with four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms. Spread out over two levels, the public spaces offer soaring ceilings with hand scraped wood flooring and wooden ceilings. Special highlights of this home includes reclaimed wood, metal and brick found throughout the interior and exterior of the home. The architects were also responsible for the interior design of this home.

Walls of glass seems to wrap around the entire home, bathing it natural light. The outdoor living area is sheltered under roof, running through the middle of the home, separating spaces. Folding wooden wall panels in the main living spaces opens the interiors to the exterior environment, for perfect indoor-outdoor connection. Have a look through the pictures below, if you love modern rustic, this home will not disappoint. Let us know what you think, could you vacation here?

We have shown many rustic homes here on 1 Kindesign, want to see more, have a look at these yummy rustic homes.

Although the ceilings are high, the wood on both the floor and ceiling adds warmth to the space and makes it feel cozy. Beautiful area rugs in the living and dining areas helps to delineate spaces in this open plan. Cozy seating arrangements make for great conversational spaces and good flow. The fireplace is the focal point to this room, with the furnishings arranged around it. Large expanses of glazing allows for views into the wooded landscape and natural light.
