A bright and eclectic family cottage was transformed by interiors studio Flik by Design, located on Lower Stony Lake,ย in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada. The cottage was purchased as a second home for a family from Toronto who wanted to escape to cottage country during the beautiful summer months. The original cottage had a former life as a sheriffs cottage, hosting several guest bunk rooms. The new homeowners wished to have a family retreat withย a timeless aesthetic, mixed with eclectic furnishings and a treasured collection of items, vibrantย colors and an intriguing feel. The project took a year to complete, with a color palette ranging from turquoise to yellow to a tantalizing kelly green, giving a very cheerful, cozy vibe to the interior spaces. Custom cabinetry, furnishings, pillows and bedding are mixed with vintage accessories and family treasures all layered together to create a collected aesthetic. The end result for this historical small cottage isย a whimsical Maritime vibeย that both designer and homeowners were seeking to successfully re-create.
What We Love: This is a very cheerful and playfully designed cottage that is just the perfect scale for a second home. It has lovely mix of furnishings that are very inviting and makes you want to curl up and relax. Charming and eclectic, we love all the color and the mix of old and new. What do you think, what do you like most about this cottage?
