Decorating your bedroom in a rustic style can create a very relaxed atmosphere, drawing nature indoors and infusing your space with warmth and coziness. Designing a rustic-inspired bedroom typically involves light-drenched window nooks, exposed rough-hewn wood beams, and mountain cabin-inspired furnishings. You may wish to incorporate prints of regional wildlife, antlers, window treatments that are either floral themed or a hue that ties the space together and will help to reference the home’s forested or mountainous locale.

A rustic bedroom design scheme does not necessarily have to be in a home in the countryside, you can do a more rustic-modern aesthetic in an urban area. Other elements to bring an air of rusticity into your design can be a fireplace, wood-burning or gas, if it is wood burning, you may wish to have a basket full of wood next to the hearth for convenience and because it is visually appealing. Stone or brick would be a nice selection for the design of your fireplace and don’t forget your mantel, a nice piece of reclaimed wood would be a nice touch!

As for floors, wood plank flooring would be a great selection, the addition of a patterned area rug will add texture, color, and warmth. Wood can also be clad on the ceilings and walls as well, or just one wall to accent, reclaimed wood is always an appealing choice. Window seats with cozy cushions are also a nice touch, and perfect for curling up with a throw and a good book!

There are plenty of color schemes that you can choose from, however, if you have lots of windows with a nice view, be sure to go more neutral as to not detract from mother nature.
