Originally a ranch property built in the 60s, this modern home was recently transformed by architecture studio Workshop/APD, overlooking the Hudson River in Briarcliff Manor, a suburban village in Westchester County, New York. The property is in an idyllic location positioned atop the ranch’s original foundation, overlooking the Hudson River. The design of this two-story, 6,000 square foot home has been described by the architects as “crafted modern”. The design team preserved the original shape of the old ranch home, which includes the gabled roof, which traverses over the central living spaces. Modern materials and details were incorporated into the design scheme of a home that continues to speak the old language. The finished result is an architectural masterpiece that feels three times its original size despite having only minor enhancements to the overall size. The increased feeling of spaciousness is attributed to the expansive floor-to-ceiling glass windows that  opens the home up to the astounding river views. Additionally, the neutral color palette throughout the interior and natural light illuminating the spaces makes the property feel bright and airy.

What We Love: The clean lines and neutral color palette that does not detract from the surrounding beauty outside of the home. The breathtaking views of the river from most of the main living spaces makes this home feel like a retreat all year round, who would ever want to leave?
